Join Friends of Ardee Bog to celebrate Ireland’s natural heritage and explore the wonders of Ardee Bog.
Our walk will explore six unique habitats and the varying landscapes of Ardee Bog from emerging forest to ancient bogland. The terrain is uneven and walking boots or wellies are recommended.
Ardee Bog is Ireland’s most easterly raised bog located in County Louth. Ardee Bog is a site of considerable conservation significance, as it comprises of a raised bog, a rare habitat in the E.U. and one that is becoming increasingly scarce and under threat in Ireland.
There is a wonderful variety of birdlife, plant and animal life in Ardee Bog. We might hear Lapwings, Snipe and Curlews. We’ll help you identify plants and animals. For our younger visitors we have a little bog treasure hunt.
Bring wellies and a picnic (optional)
Fun for all the family. All welcome!
Rain or shine.
